Description

The scheme evolved to create a new dining and playroom area at ground floor with additional two bedrooms at first floor to accommodate the owner’s family. In order to further assess the impact of the proposal on adjacent properties shadow diagrams were prepared for the Local Authority. The progress of the construction was monitored at key stages of the build.

Due to the complexity of the roof design on site guidance was given to the Contractor to comply with Building Control.

Description

The vacant property was refurbished to provide a Retail Unit at ground floor. The upper floors including a roof top extension created 5No Flats for this mixed-use building.


Public House Conversion

Conversion of Public House into Residential Accommodation.

Description

A vacant public house was offered for sale on the open market. We were instructed by our Client to undertake a measured survey of the existing structure and to propose a design for its conversion into self-contained flats.


Dilapidated Coach House Conversion

Conversion of Vacant and Dilapidated Coach House into Residential Accommodation.

Description

A redundant Coach House being vacant and in a dilapidated state of repair was converted to provide a two bedroom property. The dormer windows were designed to be sympathetic to the original building and to create additional head height at first floor level.


Barn Conversion

Conversion and Extension of Barn into Residential Accommodation.

Description

Our Client purchased the property and instructed us to obtain Planning Approval for a four-bedroom dwelling. The Planning Authority insisted that the existing structure remain true to its original design. The new extensions were to differ in materials to demarcate the old from the new. A vaulted ceiling was created at first floor level to give height to the bedrooms. A new galleried stair in the link building provided vertical access.


Remodel and Update Existing Dwelling

Description

The existing property had been extended during the late 1960s to early 1970s with flat roofed dormers. The client’s brief was to redesign the dwelling maintaining headroom for bedrooms at first floor level.

The existing roof structure was replaced and a modest extension introduced to the rear to create interest to the elevation and provide for two bedrooms at first floor level.

The amendments to the building were undertaken in line with Local Authority Green Belt Policy GB1.

Description

The site was situated in a residential area of Bristol. A scheme evolved for the creation of a new dwelling by extending to the side and rear of the existing house.

The elevational treatment included materials to harmonise with the original house.
